Imovio has unveiled a device called the iKIT, which does pretty much everything a smartphone can apart from make calls. They’re tagging it as a ‘pocket mobile companion’, as it has Wi-Fi and HSDPA connectivity, and allows users to email, surf the web, take photos and play music or video.

Specifically, it’s a clamshell gadget with a full QWERTY keyboard, 2.8-inch QVGA screen, and an SD card slot. Imovio reckons it’ll sell for around £99, and is targeting it at youngsters and travellers. The idea is that mobile operators will sell it under their own brands, which may bring the price down further.
