Google has started rolling out Android 17 QPR3 Beta 2 to Pixel phones, and the headline fix is for devices that intermittently crashed and rebooted during normal use. The update landed on October 20 and carries 21 fixes in total, according to 9to5Google.

It is the second beta of the QPR3 cycle for Android 17. Beta 1 arrived in early October, and QPR3 stable is expected in March 2027.

Which Pixels get it

The beta is available for every supported Google Pixel, from the Pixel 6a up to the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. That also covers the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The Pixel 6a is the oldest model on the list, now that the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro have reportedly reached end of life.

What the update fixes

Beyond the crash and reboot fix, Google addressed a problem with the Internet tile in Quick Settings, along with VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling issues on certain carriers. It also tackles high battery drain while the phone sits idle, which Google ties to motion sensors. The full list runs to 21 items, and we have not gone through every entry.

This follows another Pixel fix release earlier in the month. Android 17 QPR2 Beta 7.1 arrived days earlier and addressed multi-second freezes, so Pixel owners on the beta track have now seen two stability-focused builds in quick succession.

As with any beta, install it on a secondary device if you can. Pixel owners who are already enrolled should see the update arrive over the air.
