Android 17 QPR3 Beta 2 Fixes Pixel Crashes and Reboots
Google's second QPR3 beta for Pixel 6a through Pixel 11 stops random crashes and reboots, among 21 fixes. Stable is due in March 2027.
Google has released Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3 for eligible Pixel devices, introducing a new Quick Settings layout editor alongside expanded theming options and several bug fixes.
The headline addition is a layout editor for the Quick Settings panel. Tapping the pencil icon in Quick Settings now reveals a new "Layout" tab that lets users reorder three core elements: the brightness slider, tile grid, and media player. Users can arrange these in any order and choose which toggles become large tiles versus compact ones.
The feature addresses a long-standing gap in Android's customization toolkit. While Samsung and other manufacturers have offered Quick Settings rearrangement for years, stock Android on Pixel devices has been limited to adding, removing, and reordering individual tiles — not restructuring the overall layout.
Beta 3 also expands the theming system with a hue slider for finer color control and additional blur effects throughout the interface. The blur options affect system surfaces like the notification shade and app switcher, giving Pixel devices a more polished visual layer.
Other changes in the update include multitasking improvements for foldable devices, terminal link handling updates, and stricter call forwarding security. Google notes a few known home screen issues that are expected to be resolved in subsequent beta releases.
The QPR2 Beta 3 update is available now through the Android Beta Program for supported Pixel devices.
